Situation:
Tendril Networks, Inc. is a technology startup in Boulder, Colorado that needed to launch a new product in an emerging market—Wireless Sensor & Control Networks. Tendril was the first company to launch a software product in this field but there were many competitors nipping at their heels. Tendril needed to quickly establish itself as the market leader which would allow it to secure important partnerships, raise capital and begin selling product.

In 2007, Tendril had an 80% share of voice and is considered the software market leader by all leading analysts and media. Tendril’s media relations program and website, both Trippe & Company activities, attracted the attention of a NY VC firm and in early 2008 Tendril secured $12 million in a Series B round. The new release and media relations surrounding this announcement netted 22 million impressions.
