The company’s goal was to create a new market category to capitalize on the multi-billion software and services market surrounding intellectual property. To achieve this goal, SmartPatents re-engineered an enterprise software system that included a robust set of analysis tools and multi-dimensional databases for organizing and analyzing the intellectual assets in a corporation’s portfolio.

Aurigin was prominently featured in several technology and business publications including Upside, InformationWeek, Red Herring, and the San Francisco Chronicle. To help get the message out, Aurigin CEO Kevin Rivette authored Rembrandts in the Attic, published by Harvard Business Press. The software category has grown to a level that is now covered by the Gartner Group. And leads driven from the PR program helped Aurigin net over $1M in sales.in the company’s first year.
